Wooden number game – roll, add, and flip the numbers
In this wooden board game, children roll the dice, add up the pips, and flip over the numbers that together make the total. This lets them practice counting and addition at the kitchen table or on a rainy afternoon, without a screen.
Why this number game?
The rules fit on a sticky note, so a round starts in under a minute. Every turn involves a small choice: which numbers will you flip over to reach your total?
- Simple rounds: roll, add, and flip over one or more numbers that together form the result, until no combination remains.
- Grows with them: start with one die and number recognition, then move on to two dice and addition, or add subtraction and multiplication for older children.
- Wood and felt: a natural wood board with tactile numbers that feel comfortable in small hands.
- Eight dice: enough for variety or for several players to roll at the same time.
- Play together: parents and children can simply join in, with no screen nearby.
A few dice, a row of numbers, and suddenly addition becomes a reason to ask for another round.
The board measures approximately 22 x 22 cm and fits on a small table or a tray in the car. At around 255 grams, it is easy to take to grandparents' house. Wipe it with a dry or slightly damp cloth and do not leave it in water.
