Cat puzzle box - a hunting game that trims her claws at the same time
Place a treat or small toy in the box, and your cat fishes it out with her paw. The bottom is rough, so with every swipe, the sharp tips of her claws are worn down a little.
Why this puzzle box?
Trimming claws is something many cats refuse to sit still for. With this box, she does the work herself while she plays.
- Play first: round and elongated openings in the top and sides let her reach in with her paw from any angle.
- Rough bottom: the gritty surface files down the claw tips while she pulls a treat toward the opening.
- Removable top: the top panel comes off so you can quickly refill or clean the box.
- Sturdy wood: a wooden frame that stays in place and looks neat in the living room.
- Entertainment: something to chase and paw at, keeping her paws off the sofa.
Start with her favorite treat so she learns where the reward is, then switch to toys once she understands the game.
Most cats understand the game within a few tries. A few short play sessions per week are usually enough to let the bottom do its job. Brush the crumbs out of the box occasionally to keep the rough surface working properly.
