Mushroom lamp - a small stone sculpture that also provides light
This lamp places a round dome on a short cylinder of natural travertine, creating the classic mushroom silhouette in honest materials. At approximately 23 cm tall, it fits on a nightstand, a corner of your desk, or a bookshelf without taking over.
Why this mushroom lamp?
The base is genuine travertine, so the pores and color variations differ from one lamp to another. You choose the shade: veined alabaster for stone on stone, or smooth glass for a lighter, more streamlined look.
- Travertine base: natural stone with an open, porous texture and subtle color variations.
- Alabaster shade: carved from natural stone with soft veins that glow when the lamp is on.
- Glass shade: a smooth alternative that keeps the shape simple and the light even.
- Rotary switch: a small knob on the lamp itself, so there is no need to search for a cord switch.
- Small footprint: approximately 18–19 cm in diameter, leaving room for a book and a cup.
When switched off, it is a piece of worked stone; when switched on, it becomes a small, understated lantern.
Place one on each side of the bed for a symmetrical arrangement, or use one as warm background lighting on your desk. The alabaster version gives off a mottled glow reminiscent of candlelight, while the glass version distributes the light somewhat more evenly. Both pair well with wood, linen, and other natural materials.
